Hungary’s Inflation Cools Further as February CPI Slips to 1.4% YoY

Hungary’s consumer price inflation eased again in February, with the year-over-year Consumer Price Index (CPI) slowing to 1.4%, down from 2.1% in January 2026. The latest reading, updated on 10 March 2026, confirms a continued disinflationary trend as price pressures move further away from the peaks seen in recent years.

Both the current and previous figures are measured on a year-over-year basis, comparing each month’s price levels with the same month a year earlier. While January’s 2.1% print suggested inflation was already well contained, the February reading underlines a further loss of momentum in consumer price growth, signaling a softer inflation backdrop in early 2026 for the Hungarian economy.
