US 1-Year Inflation Outlook Revised Higher

The University of Michigan’s survey of consumers showed that year-ahead inflation expectations in the United States were revised up to 4.8% in May 2026, from a preliminary estimate of 4.5% and compared with 4.7% in April, marking the highest level since August of last year. At the same time, five-year inflation expectations were revised to 3.9%—a seven-month high—up from an earlier estimate of 3.4% and from 3.5% in April.
