Morocco’s annual inflation rate accelerated to 1.7% in April 2026, up from 0.9% in March and reaching its highest level since February 2025. The increase was driven primarily by transport prices, which surged 8.4% after a more modest 0.8% rise in the previous month, as fuel costs climbed amid supply disruptions related to the ongoing war involving Iran. Notable price gains were also recorded in alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.8% vs. 3.7%), miscellaneous goods and services (3.7% vs. 3.5%), education (2.1%, unchanged), and restaurants and hotels (2.1% vs. 2.0%). On a monthly basis, the consumer price index (CPI) advanced 0.4% in April, easing from a 1.2% increase in March.
