Greece Current Account Deficit Narrows in March

Greece’s current account deficit narrowed to €2.34 billion in March 2026, from €3.20 billion in the same month a year earlier. The goods account shortfall declined to €2.59 billion from €3.10 billion, as exports jumped by 26.7% while imports increased at a more moderate pace of 7.5%. The services surplus also widened, rising to €0.56 billion from €0.35 billion in March 2025, driven by higher travel and transport receipts. The primary income deficit shrank to €0.13 billion from €0.30 billion a year earlier, whereas the secondary income deficit inched up to €0.18 billion from €0.15 billion. Over the January–March 2026 period, the country recorded a current account deficit of €6.96 billion, compared with €4.95 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.
