Hong Kong Shares Extend Gains

The Hang Seng Index rose 0.6%, or 160 points, to 25,370 on Tuesday, extending its recent advance as solid capital inflows and vibrant IPO activity helped counter another round of global selling in semiconductor shares. Tech and AI-related stocks continued to draw buying interest, while optimism over Hong Kong’s reinvigorated equity market supported broader market performance.

Sentiment was further buoyed by the successful debut of Zhongji Innolight, one of Asia’s largest IPOs this year, highlighting persistent demand for Chinese technology assets despite ongoing weakness across the global chip sector. At the same time, investors kept a close watch on Shein’s planned Hong Kong listing, focusing on its valuation and latest financial results, and awaited earnings from major US technology companies as well as the Federal Reserve’s upcoming policy decision.

Among notable gainers were SMIC (up 2.3%), Xiaomi (1.6%), Tencent (1.4%), Meituan (2.3%), and Horizon Robotics (6.3%).
