Ireland Retail Activity Growth Holds Steady

Retail sales in Ireland rose by 0.4% month-on-month in June 2026, matching the pace recorded in May. The strongest volume gains were seen in electrical goods (+1.8%), clothing, footwear and textiles (+1.5%), bars (+1.2%), and books, newspapers and stationery (+1.2%). Fuel sales also picked up, increasing by 6.0% in value and 0.4% in volume, as elevated fuel prices persisted amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. These advances were partly offset by notable declines in furniture and lighting (-1.8%) and in pharmaceuticals, medical and cosmetic articles (-1.4%). On an annual basis, retail activity grew by 0.6% in June, slowing from an upwardly revised 0.9% increase in the previous month.
