Portugal Current Account Swings to Deficit in June

Portugal’s current account balance shifted to a deficit of €303.42 million in June 2026, from a surplus of €346.64 million in the same month a year earlier. This deterioration was primarily driven by a sharp widening of the goods deficit, which rose by 32.8% to €3,109 million. This was partially offset by a marginal 0.1% increase in the services surplus, to €2,799 million. At the same time, the secondary income surplus expanded by 13.2% to €435 million, supported by a 2.5% rise in remittances to €375 million. The primary income deficit narrowed by 13% to €428 million.
