Macau Tourist Arrivals Climb to Record High

The number of tourist arrivals in Macau rose by 6.1% year-on-year to 4.478 million in August 2026, accelerating from a 2.4% increase in the previous month and marking a record high for monthly arrivals. Same-day visitors surged by 11.7% to 2.853 million, while overnight visitors decreased by 2.4% to 1.625 million.

The average length of stay edged down by 0.1 day from a year earlier to 1.0 day, whereas the average stay of overnight visitors was unchanged at 2.3 days.

By source market, arrivals from Mainland China climbed 9.3% to 3.562 million. Within this group, visitors traveling under the Individual Visit Scheme increased by 12.7% to 2.020 million. Arrivals from Taiwan (101,282) and Malaysia (8,161) also grew, by 13.7% and 2.1%, respectively.

In contrast, visitor arrivals from Hong Kong (643,445), the Philippines (31,282), and Indonesia (11,106) declined by 5.6%, 18.5%, and 16.9%, respectively.

For the January–August period, total visitor arrivals rose by 7.7% year-on-year to 28.964 million.
