Romania’s Producer Price Inflation Accelerates to 13.82% YoY in September

Romania’s Producer Price Index (PPI) rose 13.82% year-over-year in September 2026, marking an acceleration from August’s 11.82% annual increase. The latest figure, released with data updated as of 3 November 2026, underscores mounting cost pressures at the producer level compared with the same month a year earlier.

On a year-over-year basis, September’s reading indicates that producer prices are rising more rapidly than in the previous month, when the August 2026 PPI had already posted a double-digit gain versus August 2025. The comparison framework shows that both the current and previous indicators measure annual changes for their respective months against the same month a year before, highlighting a clear pickup in production cost inflation heading into the autumn period.

The continued strengthening in PPI may signal further price pressures in Romania’s supply chain, which can eventually feed through to consumer prices and corporate margins, and will likely be closely monitored by businesses, investors and policymakers in the months ahead.
