Technical Analysis XAUUSD (H4): Gold Trapped in a Range, Bearish Pressure Still Dominant

XAU/USD, GOLD

The price movement of gold (XAUUSD) on the H4 timeframe currently shows a condition trapped in a limited consolidation phase between the supply area above and the support below, as clearly seen on the chart. In several attempts to rise, the price is always held back in the supply area ranging from 4,191.57 to 4,212.17 and is unable to make a valid breakout, causing the price to weaken back toward the lower area. This pattern indicates that selling pressure remains very strong in that zone, where sellers consistently use every uptick to distribute. On the other hand, the minor support area at the 4,138.38 level has also several times acted as a temporary stopper, but has not been able to trigger a significant and sustained reversal. This recurring market structure confirms that Gold currently lacks sufficient momentum to exit the range formed since late September to mid‑October 2026. The bearish confirmation is further strengthened by the direction of the Moving Averages, which still show an overall downward tendency. The MA 50 (green line) and MA 100 (red line) are both still pointing down, with the MA 100 positioned well above the price as an indicator of a strong dynamic resistance. Each time the price tries to approach or react around the MA 50, the price is pressed back down, indicating that the market is still under sellers’ control. This condition is an important warning for market participants to distance themselves from the expectation that Gold will always strengthen, because technically the potential for decline is still very valid and more dominant compared to the upside potential. Without a clear breakout above the 4,212.17 level, the bullish scenario cannot be said to have a strong probability. Currently, the price has broken through the minor support level after previously reacting around the MA 50, which is a continued indication of structural weakness in the price. That breakdown confirms that selling pressure is still ongoing and opens room for a decline toward the next target. With the last price positioned at the 4,116.39 level, the price is now below the 4,138.38 breakdown level and is still on track to test the next major support level. Today’s decline target is at the strong support level of 4,082.90, which is an important area because historically that area has been a holding point for price movement in recent weeks. Based on that structure, selling becomes a more rational choice compared to buying. An entry point can be taken around the breakout area of the minor support at the 4,138.38 level, with a stop loss placed at the 4,200 level, just above the supply area and the MA 100 to limit risk in case of a false breakout or sudden reversal. Meanwhile, the take profit target is at the next support level at 4,082, with a potentially very good Risk to Reward Ratio. However, it is important for traders to continue managing risk disciplinarily and to pay attention to market volatility, especially if the price is able to rise again and close above the 4,200 level, which would invalidate this bearish scenario.
