Technical and Fundamental Analysis of Bitcoin (BTC/USD) Bitcoin (BTC/USD) is trading near $80,800, with the cryptocurrency market showing signs of hesitation as macroeconomic uncertainty and weakening institutional flows weigh on sentiment. The price remains close to the psychologically important $80,000 level after struggling to sustain its recent recovery toward $85,000. Investors are now assessing whether buyers can defend the current support area or whether renewed selling pressure will push Bitcoin toward lower demand zones. Institutional investment flows have also become less supportive. US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded approximately $635.6 million in net outflows on Thursday, October 22, reversing part of the strong inflows seen earlier in the week. The funds had attracted more than $1 billion over three sessions before the reversal, highlighting how quickly institutional sentiment can change when market conditions deteriorate. Continued withdrawals could add pressure to spot prices, while a return to sustained inflows would help strengthen the case for a recovery. Macroeconomic uncertainty remains another major influence. The Federal Reserve's October 27–28 policy meeting is approaching, keeping interest-rate expectations in focus. Persistent inflation concerns, elevated energy prices, and geopolitical tensions have complicated the outlook for monetary policy. Oil prices above $110 per barrel have renewed concerns that inflation could remain elevated, potentially limiting the scope for easier financial conditions. Higher-for-longer interest rates can weigh on Bitcoin by reducing the appeal of non-yielding and speculative assets. Despite these headwinds, the $80,000 area remains an important psychological and technical threshold. Bitcoin's ability to hold near this level suggests that some buyers are still willing to defend lower prices. However, a durable recovery will likely require improving risk appetite, stronger institutional demand, and a clear shift in price structure. Until those conditions emerge, the market remains vulnerable to additional volatility around the Federal Reserve decision and changes in ETF flows. On the four-hour chart, Bitcoin is trading near $80,800, below both the 20-period simple moving average (SMA) around $80,850–$80,900 and the 50-period SMA near $81,250–$81,300. Both moving averages are sloping gently lower, creating a resistance cluster above the current price and reinforcing the short-term bearish structure. The sequence of lower highs and lower lows suggests that sellers retain control, while attempts to recover toward the moving averages have so far lacked sufficient momentum. The first important demand zone lies between $80,300 and $80,500, an area associated with previous swing lows and buying interest. A decisive break below this support band, confirmed by a four-hour candle close, could expose the psychological $80,000 level. If selling pressure continues beneath that threshold, the next potential demand area sits between $79,500 and $79,800. On the upside, the $81,200–$81,500 region represents a significant supply zone, where the 50-period SMA, previous swing highs, and recent rejection candles converge. Beyond that, stronger resistance is located between $81,900 and $82,300. A sustained move above the moving-average cluster would be needed to weaken the bearish structure and establish a more convincing recovery. The hourly chart reflects a similar balance tilted toward sellers. Bitcoin remains below the 50-period SMA near $81,100–$81,150, while the 20-period SMA around $80,560–$80,650 provides a nearer-term reference for price momentum. Although the shorter moving average is closer to the current price, the broader configuration suggests that upside attempts remain corrective unless buyers can reclaim higher resistance levels. The $80,300–$80,500 demand zone remains the immediate downside level to monitor. A sustained hourly break beneath this area would increase the likelihood of a move toward $80,000, followed by the $79,500–$79,800 support pocket. On the other hand, a recovery above $80,900 would help improve the immediate momentum picture, although the $81,100–$81,300 region remains a key hurdle. A sustained H1 and H4 close above the 50-period SMA would better signal that demand is beginning to overcome supply, potentially opening the way toward $82,000–$82,500. Bitcoin's near-term outlook remains cautious as weakening ETF flows, equity-market volatility, and uncertainty ahead of the Fed decision combine with a bearish moving-average structure. Holding above $80,300–$80,500 could keep the market in consolidation, but a confirmed breakdown would expose $80,000 and potentially $79,500–$79,800. Conversely, a sustained recovery above $81,300 would weaken the immediate bearish bias and bring the $81,900–$82,300 supply zone into focus. Until Bitcoin reclaims its key moving averages on both timeframes, sellers retain the short-term advantage.
