FX.co ★ Malaysia Industrial Production Rebounds 0.7%

Malaysia's industrial production recovered in July on the back of?strong output growth in manufacturing and electricity segments, data from the Department of Statistics showed on Tuesday.

Industrial production rose 0.7 percent year-on-year in July, reversing a 2.2 percent fall in June.

Among the main sectors, mining output rebounded strongly by 4.2 percent annually in July, and electricity production grew by 1.5 percent.

Meanwhile, manufacturing production decreased only marginally by 0.2 percent. The smaller decline was attributed to the expansion in the domestic oriented industries.

On a monthly basis, industrial production slid 1.8 percent in July, compared to a 2.2 percent gain in the preceding month.
