Rheinmetall Gets Up To EUR 400 Mln Worth Framework Contract From German Armed Forces

Rheinmetall AG, a prominent automotive and defense company based in Germany, has been awarded a framework contract by the German military, Bundeswehr. The contract involves the delivery of up to 191,000 intercom sets equipped with a hearing protection feature.

The contract duration is seven years, with a potential total order value of up to 400 million euros. This project, an essential component for tactical communications, holds immense importance for the entire force.

The German Bundestag's Budget Committee, under the agreed terms, has placed a confirmed order for 30,000 sets, inclusive of connection cables, for delivery in 2024. A subsequent order for an additional 30,000 sets is anticipated for delivery in 2025.

Accounting for these two batches, financed from a special fund, the net value stands at around 140 million euros. The intercom sets come with advanced active capsule ear protection, designed to reduce harmful impulse noise while amplifying quieter sounds. These devices are equipped with microphones and can sync to various radio devices, enabling radio communication.

The supply package also includes a range of push-to-talk or PTT buttons and a variety of cable sets meant to connect to different radios and onboard communication systems. Rheinmetall AG currently acts as the primary contractor to the Bundeswehr for the System Infantry Soldier of the Future - Expanded System.
