Romanian Inflation Rises To 5.4%

Romania's consumer price inflation saw an uptick in July for the first time in six months, reaching its highest level in three months, as reported by the National Institute of Statistics on Monday.

The consumer price index (CPI) reflected a 5.4 percent increase year-on-year in July, surpassing the 4.9 percent rise in June, which had marked the lowest inflation rate since July 2021.

Non-food goods prices surged by 6.9 percent compared to the previous year, while food goods prices increased by 1.7 percent. Service costs experienced an 8.5 percent rise.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up by 0.6 percent in July.
