Japan Overall Bank Lending Climbs 3.0% On Year In November

The Bank of Japan reported on Monday that overall bank lending in Japan increased by 3.0% year-on-year in November, reaching a total of 626.923 trillion yen. This growth surpassed the anticipated rise of 2.6%, which would have mirrored the October figures. When excluding trusts, bank lending experienced an annual growth of 3.3%, amounting to 549.160 trillion yen, up from a 2.9% increase in the previous month. Lending from trusts grew by 0.8% year-on-year to 77.762 trillion yen, slightly higher than the 0.7% rise seen in the previous month. Additionally, lending from foreign banks saw a significant annual increase of 25.2%, reaching 4.798 trillion yen, compared to a 22.3% rise in October.
