Australia Retail Sales Climb 0.8% In November

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, retail sales in Australia experienced a seasonally adjusted growth of 0.8% in November, reaching a total value of A$37.052 billion. This increase fell slightly short of the anticipated 1.0% rise, but it did improve from the 0.6% growth observed in October.

Breaking down by category, sales saw positive movement across various sectors: food sales increased by 0.5%, household goods by 0.6%, clothing by 1.6%, department store sales escalated by 1.8%, other retail categories grew by 0.3%, and takeout food purchases rose by 1.5%.

Regionally, retail sales demonstrated an upward trend across all states and territories, including New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, Northern Territory, and the Australian Capital Territory.
