In February 2025, Macau experienced a 4.4% year-on-year decline in tourist arrivals, totaling 3.15 million. This decrease marked a reversal from the 27.4% growth recorded in the previous month. The primary reason for this drop was the high comparison basis, due to an extended eight-day Chinese New Year holiday in mainland China in the same month last year. The number of overnight visitors fell by 11.7% to 1.26 million, while same-day visitors saw a slight increase of 1.1%, reaching 1.89 million. Specifically, tourist numbers from Mainland China decreased by 6.4% to 2.29 million, with those traveling under the Individual Visit Scheme declining by 11.1%. In contrast, the number of visitors from Taiwan rose by 14.4% to 67.9 thousand, while arrivals from Hong Kong decreased by 4.7% to 579.8 thousand. Over the first two months of the year, total visitor arrivals saw a growth of 10.4%, amounting to 6.79 million.
