The construction sector saw a 1.8% increase in building construction, contrasting with the static figures from the previous month, and a 0.9% rise in civil engineering, albeit lower than the prior 1.9% growth. However, specialized construction activities experienced a decline of 0.3%, deviating from the earlier flat performance. Examining the larger economies within the region, construction output witnessed an upswing in Spain, climbing by 0.2% compared to an earlier surge of 11.1%, and in Italy, where it rose by 4.2%, rebounding from a 1.9% decline. Conversely, construction output fell in France by 7.1%, a sharper drop from the previous 1.9% decrease, and in Germany, which saw a slight decline of 0.3% following a previous rise of 2.2%. Month-over-month, construction output edged up by 0.2%, building modestly on December's 0.4% growth.
