Brazil’s Industrial Confidence Falls to Lowest Level Since 2020

In April 2025, Brazil's Industrial Entrepreneur Confidence Index (ICEI) dipped to 48, marking its lowest point since July 2020. This decline from March's figure of 49.2 highlights growing pessimism among industrial companies, driven by signals of an economic slowdown, continuous high interest rates, and a strengthening US dollar. Business performance expectations over the next six months decreased slightly to 55.5, down from 56.2, while broader economic expectations saw a sharper fall to 41.1 from 43.0. Evaluations of the present circumstances also worsened: company confidence in the current conditions dropped to 46.6, compared to 47.6 previously, and sentiment about the Brazilian economy further deteriorated to 34.8 from prior figures of 36.6.
