Sweden experienced an increase in its unemployment rate, rising to 8% in July 2025, up from 7.7% in the same month the previous year. This rise reflects a growth in the number of unemployed individuals, which increased by 20,000 compared to the previous year, reaching a total of 474,000. Concurrently, the number of employed individuals saw a reduction of 6,000, bringing the employment count to 5.438 million. Additionally, the employment rate experienced a decline of 0.4 percentage points, settling at 71.3%, while the labor force participation rate decreased by 0.2 percentage points to 77.5%. The average total number of hours worked weekly amounted to 102.3 million. When adjusted for seasonal variations, the unemployment rate stood at 8.7%.
