Greece Trade Deficit Narrows in September

In September 2025, Greece's trade deficit decreased to EUR 2.7 billion from EUR 3.0 billion in the same month of the previous year, primarily due to a rise in exports coupled with a decline in imports. Exports increased by 4.0% year-on-year, reaching EUR 4.2 billion, fueled by stronger sales to both the European Union (up 5.6%) and non-EU countries (up 2.1%). On the other hand, imports fell by 3.6% to EUR 6.9 billion, influenced by a 9% reduction in purchases from non-EU countries, which counteracted a 1.4% rise in imports from the EU. Over the January to September period, the trade deficit contracted to EUR 24.4 billion from EUR 25.2 billion in the same timeframe of the previous year.
