Consumer confidence in the euro area reached -12.4 in January 2026, the best score since February 2025, improving from a revised -13.2 in December 2025, as per flash estimates. In the broader European Union, consumer sentiment improved by 0.8 points to -11.7. Although there is an upturn, confidence levels in both the euro area and the EU are still below their historical averages.
