Sensex Rebounds on Tuesday

India’s BSE Sensex closed about 0.8% higher at 78,206 on Tuesday, recouping part of the sharp losses recorded over the previous two sessions. Sentiment improved after global crude oil prices dropped significantly, following Donald Trump’s remarks that the conflict in the Middle East could end “very soon.”

Nonetheless, volatility is expected to persist as geopolitical risks remain elevated. Among the top gainers were IndiGo, Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki India, ICICI Bank, and Asian Paints, which advanced between 2.7% and 3.5%. Other notable winners included UltraTech Cement, Tata Steel, and Axis Bank.

Upside momentum was partly constrained by declines in Eternal (-1.5%) and several heavyweight constituents, including Reliance Industries (-1.1%), Infosys (-1.4%), Bharti Airtel (-0.9%), Tata Consultancy Services (-0.6%), and Hindustan Unilever (-0.1%).
