Argentina Consumer Confidence at 5-Month Low

Argentina’s consumer confidence index fell to 42.03 in March 2026, its lowest level since October 2025 and a 5.3% drop from February’s reading of 44.38. The decline was broad-based: the sub-index for current conditions fell 6.48%, while future expectations decreased 4.45%.

Regionally, Greater Buenos Aires posted the steepest decline (-9.35%), followed by the City of Buenos Aires (-6.99%). In contrast, the rest of the country registered a modest increase of 1.26%.

Confidence weakened across all income segments, dropping 6.91% among low-income households and 4.71% among high-income households. Among the sub-indices, the personal situation component recorded the largest fall (-8.23%), followed by durable goods and real estate (-4.58%), and the macroeconomic situation (-3.26%).

On a year-on-year basis, the overall consumer confidence index declined 4.73%.
