Czech Car Registrations Rebound in February After Sharp January Slump

Car registrations in the Czech Republic showed a marked turnaround in February 2026, rising 3.00% month-over-month after a steep decline at the start of the year. The latest data, updated on 24 March 2026, signal a partial recovery in demand following January’s sharp 16.70% drop compared with December.

While the rebound is modest relative to January’s contraction, the move back into positive territory suggests that some of the weakness at the turn of the year may have been temporary. The figures compare the change in registrations each month against the previous month, highlighting a shift from a strongly negative trend in January to a cautiously positive one in February.

Analysts and market participants will now be watching upcoming monthly data to see whether February’s improvement marks the beginning of a sustained recovery in Czech auto demand or merely a short-term correction after an unusually weak January.
