While manufacturers’ expectations for production in the coming months remained positive, they were somewhat more subdued than in the previous month (20 versus 24 in February). Order books weakened further (-21 versus -17), whereas inventories of finished goods rose (1 versus -2), moving closer to the long-term average of 3. There also remains considerable spare capacity in the sector: 61% of respondents reported operating at full capacity in March, up from 57% in February. In February, manufacturing confidence in Finland was somewhat stronger than the EU average.
