Indonesia’s trade surplus narrowed sharply to USD 1.28 billion in February 2026, down from USD 3.09 billion in the same month a year earlier and undershooting market expectations of USD 1.55 billion. Imports rose 10.85% year-on-year to USD 20.89 billion. By contrast, exports grew just 1.01% year-on-year, easing from a 3.39% increase in January and falling short of the consensus forecast of 3.2%. This marked the weakest export growth since last November, when overseas shipments posted a decline.
