FX.co ★ Baltic Dry Index Hovers Around 4-Month Highs

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk freight index, which tracks rates for vessels transporting dry bulk commodities, slipped 0.1% to 2,673 points on Thursday, halting a 14-day rally but remaining close to a more than four-month high. The capesize index, covering ships that typically carry 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, declined 0.9% to 4,315 points. The panamax index, reflecting vessels that usually transport 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, eased 0.3% to 1,965 points. Among smaller vessel segments, the supramax index rose 2.6% to 1,522 points, its highest level since early December 2023.
