European Stocks Extend Losing Streak to 8 Sessions

The STOXX 50 and STOXX 600 both slipped into negative territory on Wednesday, each declining about 0.3% and extending their losing streak to an eighth consecutive session. Investors stayed focused on a fresh round of corporate earnings while positioning for key monetary policy decisions from the Federal Reserve later today and the ECB tomorrow. At the same time, oil prices continued to climb, and reports indicated that President Trump has instructed aides to prepare for a prolonged blockade of Iran, heightening the risk of sustained disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.

In corporate news, AstraZeneca fell 1.5% after the company reaffirmed its full-year 2026 guidance. UBS jumped 4% following an 80% year-on-year surge in net profit. Deutsche Bank dropped 2.3% as its latest results failed to impress investors. Adidas soared 6.6% after reporting strong results supported by robust demand for its football, running, and training products. Pernod Ricard shares declined 2.2% after the company ended merger discussions with Brown-Forman, the owner of Jack Daniel’s.
