European Stocks Close Higher for 2nd Session

European stocks finished sharply higher for a second consecutive session on Thursday, supported by solid corporate earnings and new geopolitical developments. The Eurozone’s STOXX 50 rose 1.2% to 5,931, while the STOXX 600 gained 0.7% to close at 616.

Sentiment improved after constructive rhetoric emerged from the early stages of the summit between US President Trump and Chinese President Xi, easing fears of renewed disruptions following last year’s trade disputes.

Technology stocks led the advance, with robust gains reflecting optimism after positive discussions between US tech leaders and the Chinese delegation boosted expectations for stronger demand for AI infrastructure. ASML climbed 5.5% and Infineon advanced 3%. Meanwhile, Siemens added 2.6%, extending its strong post-earnings momentum.
