Slovakia’s Core Inflation Eases Slightly to 2.3% in May, Continuing Downward Trend

Slovakia’s core consumer price index (CPI) edged down to 2.3% year-on-year in May 2026, from 2.4% in April 2026, according to data updated on 15 June 2026. The figure is based on a year-over-year comparison, measuring price changes in May 2026 versus May 2025.

The marginal slowdown in core inflation suggests underlying price pressures in the Slovak economy continue to moderate. In April, the core CPI increase of 2.4% had already indicated relatively contained inflation compared with the same month a year earlier, and May’s reading extends that trend, albeit modestly. Investors and policymakers will be watching upcoming releases to see whether this gradual easing becomes more pronounced in the coming months.
