Construction output in Greece rose by 16.5% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, up from 3.0% growth in the previous quarter. This was the fastest expansion in construction activity since the fourth quarter of 2024. The increase was driven primarily by specialised construction activities, where output accelerated to 22.3% from 11.4% in Q4 2025. Civil engineering activity also rebounded, growing by 6.7% after a sharp 15.0% contraction previously. By contrast, output in residential and non-residential building construction eased slightly, posting a 19.2% rise compared with 20.2% in the prior quarter. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, however, total construction output declined by 44.6% in Q1, following a 51.7% surge in the preceding period.
