US 30-Year Mortgage Rate Dips for a 2nd Week

The average US 30-year fixed mortgage rate for loans up to $806,500 declined to 6.57% in the week ended June 26, 2026, the lowest level in a month and the second consecutive weekly drop, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association. Despite the pullback, borrowing costs remained elevated even as long-term Treasury yields eased on the back of lower energy prices, with hawkish FOMC guidance curbing any strong rebound in credit market activity. Overall mortgage applications were unchanged after a 1% increase the previous week, as purchase applications rose 0.5% while refinance applications slipped 0.7%.
