Mexico Manufacturing PMI at 2024-Highs

The S&P Global Mexico Manufacturing PMI rose to 51.3 in June 2026 from 49.6 in May, its highest level since March 2024, indicating an overall improvement in operating conditions. Order books expanded at the fastest pace in 27 months, supported in part by activity related to the FIFA World Cup, while new export orders also increased at the end of the second quarter.

Production edged down slightly, constrained by cash flow problems, input shortages, and technical stoppages. Input inventories declined for the ninth consecutive month as supplier delivery delays persisted, driven by blockades, highway insecurity, material shortages, customs bottlenecks, and the conflict in the Middle East.

In contrast, purchasing activity rebounded, reflecting stronger demand and efforts to rebuild inventories. In the labor market, manufacturers reported further job losses. Meanwhile, cost pressures eased. Looking ahead, firms remained optimistic, with business confidence climbing to a three-month high.
