Lebanon Inflation Rate Eases to 3-Month Low

Lebanon’s annual inflation rate eased to 17.3% in June 2026, down from 19.0% in May and reaching its lowest level since March. The slowdown was driven by softer price increases in several categories, including housing and utilities (17.1% vs. 21.6% in May), transportation (29.4% vs. 37.8%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (8.4% vs. 8.6%), and recreation, amusement, and culture (42.6% vs. 48.4%).

At the same time, inflation accelerated slightly in other components: food and non-alcoholic beverages (18.0% vs. 17.9%), health (2.8% vs. 2.7%), clothing and footwear (6.6% vs. 5.7%), restaurants and hotels (16.3% vs. 15.6%), and miscellaneous goods and services (14.9% vs. 14.6%). Price growth was unchanged for furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance (7.1%), as well as for education (35.7%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices declined by 0.8%, reversing a 0.5% increase recorded in the previous month.
