FX.co ★ Taiwan Jobless Rate Ticks Higher

Taiwan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate inched up to 3.33% in June 2026, from 3.32% in May, when it had reached a more than 25-year low. The number of unemployed persons rose by 9,000 month-on-month to 402,000. Within this total, new job seekers increased to 89,000 from 84,000, and experienced job seekers climbed to 313,000 from 309,000.

Youth unemployment among those aged 15–24 also moved higher, to 11.57% in June from 11.14% in May. At the same time, overall employment continued to expand, with the number of employed persons rising by 3,000 to 11.637 million.

The labor force participation rate ticked up to 59.56% in June from 59.5% a month earlier, its highest level since March. On a year-earlier comparison, the unemployment rate was slightly higher in June 2025, at 3.35%.
