Ireland Wholesale Prices Highest Since 2023

Wholesale prices in Ireland rose 3.5% year-on-year in June 2026, accelerating from a 1.6% increase in May and reaching their highest annual growth rate since March 2023.

By category, producer prices posted substantial annual gains in:

  • Chemicals and chemical products: +11.9%
  • Other non-metallic mineral products: +5.9%
  • Fabricated metal products (excluding machinery and equipment): +5.7%
  • Pulp, paper and paper products: +4.1%
  • Basic metals: +3.8%

Food products rose 2.9% year-on-year, supported mainly by higher prices for fish and fish products (+8.6%) and other food products (+5.4%). Overall, food products, beverages and tobacco recorded a 2.4% increase.

Energy-related categories showed particularly strong price pressures: energy fuels jumped 24.5%, while electricity prices surged 42.2%. Overall prices for manufactured goods were up 3.5%, and construction products increased 3.1% compared with a year earlier.

On a monthly basis, however, wholesale prices edged down 0.2% in June, reversing a 0.9% rise in May and marking the first month-on-month decline after three consecutive monthly increases.
