TSX Futures Steady After Record High

Futures tied to the S&P/TSX Composite Index were little changed on Tuesday, pausing after the benchmark closed at a record high in the previous session, as investors digested corporate earnings and followed developments in the Middle East. Celestica and TFI International both exceeded second-quarter adjusted profit forecasts, while Gibson Energy also beat expectations and First Capital Realty reported revenue broadly in line with estimates. Tamarack Valley posted higher second-quarter revenue, supported by stronger crude prices. Great-West Lifeco, First Quantum, Cardinal Energy, and Intact Financial are scheduled to report after the market close.

Oil prices declined as optimism grew over a potential resolution to the US-Iran standoff, easing energy-driven inflation concerns and pulling Canadian bond yields lower. Separately, Brookfield said it had raised about $2 billion for a private equity fund targeting investments in Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East. Gold prices slipped amid a stronger US dollar, adding pressure on mining stocks.
