The Baltic Dry Index slipped 1.2% on Tuesday to 2,664, its lowest reading since July 2. The Capesize Index — which reflects rates for vessels carrying around 150,000 tons of cargo such as iron ore and coal — fell 1.4% to 4,140, the weakest level since July 22. The Panamax Index, tracking ships that typically transport 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, declined 0.6% to 1,988, the lowest since late April. The Supramax Index dropped 1.3% to 1,648, marking its lowest level since June 12.
