Portugal Industrial Production Declines Again in June

Portugal’s industrial production declined by 0.7% year-on-year in June 2026, easing from a revised 1.6% fall in May as the contraction in energy output narrowed significantly (-1.0% vs. -9.7%). Nonetheless, activity remained subdued across most segments, with output falling for durable consumer goods (-1.0%), non-durable consumer goods (-2.5%), and capital goods (-2.9%). In contrast, intermediate goods production strengthened, accelerating to a 2.2% increase after a 0.9% gain in May. On a month-on-month basis, overall industrial output sank 3.8% in June, the steepest monthly drop in a year.
