Chile Industrial Production Rebounds in June

Chile's industrial production grew 1.3% year-on-year in June 2026, rebounding from a 7.5% drop in May and marking its first expansion in nine months. The recovery was largely driven by a 6% rise in mining output, with metallic mining up 4.6%, non-metallic mining advancing 14.5%, and energy resource production increasing 4.3%. Copper output was 5.1% higher than a year earlier.

Utilities production also expanded by 2.4%, supported by a 3.5% increase in electricity generation, driven in part by higher output from coal and coal-petcoke power plants. In contrast, manufacturing output fell 3.2%, mainly reflecting an 8.1% decline in food production. On a month-on-month basis, overall industrial production rose 1.6%.
