Nasdaq 100 Speculators Edge Further Into Net Long Territory, CFTC Data Shows

Speculative positioning in the Nasdaq 100 futures market continued to strengthen, according to the latest data from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) updated on 31 July 2026. Net speculative positions in the tech-heavy index rose to 4.9K contracts, up from 4.5K previously.

The increase in net long positioning suggests that traders are marginally more optimistic about the near-term outlook for the Nasdaq 100 than in the prior reporting period. While the move is incremental, it points to a steady build-up in bullish sentiment among speculators toward U.S. large-cap growth and technology-related stocks represented in the index.
