Estonia Trade Deficit Widens in June

Estonia’s trade deficit widened to EUR 413 million in June 2026, compared with EUR 361 million in the same month a year earlier. Exports increased by 15% year-on-year to EUR 1,657 million, supported by higher sales to both EU countries (+19%) and non-EU markets (+5%). Export growth was particularly strong for mineral products (+62%), raw materials and products of the chemical industry (+25%), base metals and articles of base metals (+25%), machinery and mechanical appliances (+20%), agricultural products and food preparations (+15%), and transport equipment (+14%).

Imports also rose by 15%, reaching EUR 2,070 million, driven by increased purchases from both EU countries (+14%) and non-EU countries (+18%). The largest import gains were recorded in mineral products (+86%), electrical equipment (+29%), wood and articles of wood (+19%), and machinery and mechanical appliances (+19%).

Over the first half of the year, Estonia posted a trade deficit of EUR 1,920 million, slightly higher than the EUR 1,908 million shortfall recorded in the same period of 2025.
