Slovakia Inflation Eases to 19-Month Low

Slovakia’s annual inflation rate eased to 3.3% in July 2026 from 3.5% in June, remaining above market expectations of 3%. This was the lowest rate since December 2024, driven mainly by a sharper decline in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages (-2.1% vs. -0.5%).

Price growth also slowed for several other categories, including alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics (1.8% vs. 3.1%), insurance and financial services (4.6% vs. 4.9%), and miscellaneous goods and services (2.6% vs. 3.2%).

In contrast, inflation accelerated in housing and utilities (7.4% vs. 7.3%), transport (7.0% vs. 5.3%), clothing and footwear (0.8% vs. 0.6%), health (5.1% vs. 4.9%), information and communication (2.2% vs. 2.0%), and recreation, sport and culture (5.2% vs. 4.8%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.1%, in line with market expectations and rebounding from a 0.1% decline in the previous month. Core inflation, which excludes regulated prices, slipped to 1.7% from 1.9% in June, reaching its lowest level since March 2021.
