Moldova Trade Deficit Widens in June

Moldova’s trade deficit widened to USD 620.9 million in June 2026, up from USD 586.9 million in the same month a year earlier, although it was the smallest gap in five months. Imports rose 9.8% year-on-year to USD 936.6 million, fueled by higher purchases from CIS countries (35.1%), EU member states (9.4%), and other markets (9.2%). Exports also increased, jumping 18.7% to USD 315.7 million, supported by stronger shipments to CIS countries (15.2%), EU countries (19.5%), and other destinations (17.2%).

Over the January–June period, the trade deficit widened to USD 3,891.3 million from USD 3,515 million a year earlier, as exports grew 20.3% and imports rose 13.7%.
