Taiwan’s Q2 GDP Growth Cools to 12.93% Year-on-Year, Easing From 14.55%

Taiwan’s economy expanded at a robust but moderating pace in the second quarter of 2026, with gross domestic product (GDP) rising 12.93% year-on-year, according to updated figures as of 14 August 2026. This marks a slowdown from the previously recorded 14.55% year-on-year growth rate in the same quarter.

The data reflect a cooling in the speed of Taiwan’s expansion when compared with the exceptionally strong performance seen a year earlier. On a year-over-year basis, the “actual” figure compares the second quarter of 2026 with the second quarter of the prior year, while the “previous” reading measured the change in the prior period against its year-ago counterpart.

Although growth has decelerated from its earlier peak, the double-digit pace underscores that Taiwan remains on a strong expansion path, even as momentum eases from the prior year’s surge.
