Botswana's annual inflation rate eased to 9.4% in July 2026, down from 10.7% in June, when it reached its highest level since December 2022. Price growth slowed slightly in the categories of transportation (19.9% vs 28.4% in June) and clothing & footwear (5.1% vs 5.3%). In contrast, inflation continued to pick up in several other CPI components, including miscellaneous goods & services (11.7% vs 11.5%), alcoholic beverages & tobacco (10.7% vs 10.6%), food & non-alcoholic beverages (6.6% vs 5.7%), and restaurants & hotels (5.3% vs 5.2%). In addition, housing & utilities costs rebounded, rising 3.9% after a 0.4% decline in the previous month. On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 1.8% in July, following a 0.2% increase in June.
