US Futures Edge Lower

US stock futures edged lower on Monday as investors stayed cautious after last week’s sharp rise in Treasury yields weighed on major indexes. The Dow fell 0.8% for its second straight weekly loss, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite declined 1.4% and 2%, respectively, ending three-week winning streaks. The pullback followed a move in the 30-year US Treasury yield above 5.3%, its highest level in nearly 20 years, alongside multi-year yield highs in Japan, France, and Germany. Market participants remained worried that the protracted US–Iran conflict could keep oil prices elevated and stoke inflation, constraining the Federal Reserve’s ability to cut interest rates. In the meantime, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is expected to unveil new sanctions on Iran, and investors are looking ahead to the July PCE inflation report and Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh’s remarks at the Jackson Hole symposium later this week. Earnings from Nvidia and Marvell Technology will also be in focus.
