FX.co ★ FDI Into Vietnam Up 12% YoY in Jan-Aug

Foreign direct investment (FDI) disbursed in Vietnam reached USD 17.25 billion in the first eight months of 2026, up 12.0% year-on-year. This marks the highest FDI disbursement for the January–August period since at least 2008, underscoring sustained investor confidence in the Vietnamese economy.

As of August 31, total registered foreign investment amounted to USD 40.63 billion, an increase of 55.4% compared with the same period last year. This figure covers newly registered capital, additional capital for existing projects, and capital contributions and share purchases by foreign investors.

In parallel, State budget investment disbursements rose 18.5% year-on-year to VND 546.8 trillion over the same period, equivalent to 50.5% of the annual plan. Of this total, locally managed investment reached VND 470.9 trillion, up 20.4%, while centrally managed investment stood at VND 75.9 trillion, an increase of 7.9%.
