Paraguay’s trade balance shifted to a deficit of $50.84 million in August 2026, compared with a surplus of $25.12 million in the same month a year earlier. Imports surged 21.1% year-on-year to $1.85 billion. Within this total, purchases of consumer goods rose 13.1%, imports of intermediate goods increased 23%, and acquisitions of capital goods climbed 24.9%. On the export side, shipments grew 15.9% to $1.80 billion. Sales of manufactured products of agricultural and livestock origin advanced 8.6%, exports of industrial manufactures jumped 23.6%, and exports of fuels and energy increased 13.9%. By contrast, exports of primary products declined 2.1%.
